My name is Deserae Lindsley or Gardening with Dez online! I have a growing following of garden lovers and am passionate about simplifying gardening for others. I live in beautiful Austin,TX on less than a quarter of an acre in a quiet neighborhood with mature trees. I am proud to have a certified wildlife habitat in my own backyard and am always adding more ways to support the local wildlife.

Gardening for the many pollinators that our delicate food system relies on is an extreme passion of mine. Urbanization and massive growth in our community has led to less and less green space for pollinators and contributed to the urban heat island effect. As a result we are having hotter and hotter summers with less forage for our pollinators. It’s my mission to make gardening accessible to everyone regardless of their skill level so we can work to alleviate some of the impact of global warming locally.

In my urban backyard I raise butterflies, chickens, native and adapted plants and vegetables! I started out with balcony gardening and gardening in other peoples yard so I definitely understand the challenges of gardening in small spaces. Many people in urban areas don’t have access to a big backyard and I didnt either but still managed to produce pounds of veggies. You can do it too!!

Through my volunteer work as a Travis Co Master Gardener I help to educate the community about gardening responsibly in ATX. My online platform allows me to reach even more people across the globe and educate others about the wonders of gardening.
