Small harvest…big impact!

Small harvests…Big impact!

Did you know that you can produce pounds of vegetables in just ONE 4’X6’ raised garden bed? You don’t have to have acres of land, a big backyard or even a large vegetable garden to grow food to feed your family!

Today food prices are sky rocketing and global warming and extreme weather events are not helping. Fresh food is so important to our physical and mental wellbeing but for some families the cost of these fresh fruits and vegetables make it harder to eat healthy.

One 4’x6’ companion planted raised garden bed can produce tomatoes, peppers, squash, bush beans, garlic, beets, onions, basil and so so so much more! Can you imagine the impact we could all make if those of us that COULD grow produce did and shared our excess? We could take so much pressure off the system and help support our neighbors with the extra veggies we grow!

Sometimes the biggest barrier people face to growing their own food is thinking too big or fear of failure because they aren’t sure how to grow. I can totally relate to those feelings as I was also once a young gardener unsure of my ability to garden successfully.

Once I started to observe my perceived failures as opportunities for growth the way I gardened changed entirely. I suddenly saw that those tiny harvests I got were huge wins for me as an individual and today I teach others to garden too.

Now I have a much larger garden and produce 100’s of pounds of veggies that I consume and share each season. I grow herbs to cook with, dry for friends and family and allow them to flower for pollinators. I grow host plants and raise 4 or 5 different varieties of butterfly. I grow native plants and provide fresh water and habitat for backyard wildlife and have transformed my small backyard into a haven for all.

If you’re thinking of starting your own backyard garden I am so excited for you! You may not realize it now but your efforts could blossom into something amazing. So if you grow a tomato plant and only get a few tomatoes don’t despair..it’s just a small step toward huge harvests in the future. You’ve got this! Keep growing!!

HAPPY GARDENING!!

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
